This powerful ´naive´ art painting was on display at the International Museum for Naive Art in Rio. Despite promises by President Lula to stop deforestation, it has continued to grow. In 2004, 9,169 square miles of forest were lost - an area equal to the size of Israel. It is predicted that if deforestation continues at this rate, the entire amazon rainforest could be wiped out during this century.
